    I tried to update my version of the Salient theme last week using the downloading/reuploading instructions.

    Once I had replaced it with the current upload my WordPress site broke. I got the error message "Critical error on your website" when I tried to visit any page other than the home page. I also got the same error when I tried to log in to the WordPress backend.

    Do you know why this is happening and how to fix it? The reason I am trying to update is I can't make a portfolio item full-width layout. I'm hoping it's a bug in the old version of the theme I am using.

    Please check your Error Log and check and see if your PHP settings are correct:  http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/#troubleshooting. 

    Recommended PHP configuration limits are as follows:

    • max_execution_time 60
    • memory_limit 256M
    • post_max_size 48M
    • upload_max_filesize 48M.

    Thank you! I deactivated all the plugins and the update worked. I will reactivate the plugins one by one to find the problem.
