Hi there, I've noticed that all my Posts on my Blog page share the exact same number of shares (facebook, twitter, pinterest) the only number that differs between posts is the number of likes.

Shouldn't it be unique for all posts? I mean each post should have the unique share option and number of shares?

    Please advise

    Hey Tomaz!

Try setting up a WP Open Graph plugin as it could be some invalid settings that are causing this.

    Thanks

    Hi Tahir,

I am not familiar with this plugin. But since this is a part of your theme (the share stats and buttons) shouldn't there be a fix for your theme? I would not like to install extra plugins that might be causing issues with the theme if there's a different work around. Besides, from what I am reading here about this plugin:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-open-graph/

Isn't this JUST for the Facebook share count? What about Twitter and Pinterest then?

    Thanks

    Hey!

Try Updating to Salient Theme Version 4.5.22  to see if that fixes this.

    Thanks

I have 4.5.2 currently installed, didn't receive any emails about an update, where can I download it? From ThemeForest.net?

Alrighty then :) will let you know when I update if that helped.

I installed the latest version of Salient (4.5.22.) and share a post on LinkedIn for example, just this post. Still the number of shares on LinkedIn appears as 1 on ALL posts. So that didn't fix the problem.

Another issue, for example once I open an article, it has a certain number of shares on Facebook, Twitter etc. after refreshing the page, the numbers change to different numbers. That's really odd, as if its loading from different DB or source..

Please take a look and fix the issue for me, thanks.

    Hey,

I'm seeing the same counts for only Facebook and Twitter on your posts - but am seeing the same data being shown on the public API's for the sites such as on this post:

The share counts are being grabbed from each social networking service e.g.

    http://graph.facebook.com/?id=http://tomazmrevlje....

none of the share counts are actually stored within the theme so something about the URLs apparently is causing Facebook to return inaccurate data on your end. If you change your permalink structure or rename any of the posts it should cause the social sites to reset their data so that might be a good test to try out

Cool, I will give it a try and report back with the results.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I changed the permalink on an old post and it did reset all the share counts to 0 (but the Like count, which is fine). So this proves the point, but what is or could be the solution for the issue?

No, but I don't want to reset anything. I would like the Share Counts to be working :)

    Hey Again!

Not really sure what you are asking ? . The permalinks needed a flush so changing the permalink structure refreshed it.

    Thanks

Hey Tahir, if you scroll back up to the beginning of this thread you will know what I am asking. The point is, this issue wasn't resolved. My wish or request or expectation wasn't for me to be able to refresh (reset my share counts to 0) my stats. It was to make them unique, the problem started when I noticed that different articles shared the same amount of Social Shares, which renders the feature pointless.

The point of these Social Share counts is, that each article has their own number of shares on different Social media (the more the better), but certainly not the same. If I explain it in an amateur terms (since I am an amateur when it comes to coding) it looks like there's ONE set of Social Share stats, shared by all articles and that's pointless.

Shouldn't EACH article have it's own set of Social Share stats?

  • Tomaz replied

Can you just please go to one article on my page, once the page opens look at the numbers of Social Share Count, try to remember it and then refresh the page (I use F5), the numbers for some of them (usually Facebook and Twitter) change? That makes no sense?

    Take this article for example:

Thanks, let's just say it's solved now although we still are having a misunderstanding :)
