How to change column background colour without visual composer?

    Hey there!

    I see visual composer makes it easy to edit column background colours, but if I do that my whole page formatting stuffs up. 

    Is there a way to change background colour using classic editor?  I'd like the below testimonials section on my homepage to be dark blue with white text..

    Hey Cam,

    Unfortunately those options are only available in VC for now - could you let me know how the layouts are not working when using that instead? If you could allow me to log in I'd be glad to take a further look as well
