I managed to do this on the homepage, with several tricks, but the process is really not clean.
Also, in responsive mode, it of course mess up.
Any advice how I could simply do it and make it 'clean' in my child theme ?
The idea is to make use of Salient awesome features for columns backgrounds, but keep the content 'centered' (not full width), while the column backgrounds go till the hedge.
I knew this behavior, but it do not produce the required result : this way the content width is screen-size dependent and its width is too high.

Sorry for the delayed response. You can do this easily by adding a column background color and adding in padding upto 5% .
