    How do we translate this? 

    I was able to add the string to the wpml string translations by going into:  "Translate texts in admin screens »" and add it to string translation. 

    But this just gives me 404's :(

    the custom portfolio slug, since my site is multilanguage, that slug should also be mulitlanguage :)

    Hey Again,

    WPML does have an option to set Different Theme Options Per language so you should be able to save a different Slug for each language. 

    Please contact WPML Plugin support for the exact steps needed to configure it.
