I want to replace the search bar with a search bar like the one that's on www.zavvi.co.uk. A programmer friend of mine told me that it's possible to do that with a shortcode, but not every theme supports that.
So my question is: is it possible to replace the search bar and can this be done with a shortcode or doesn't the theme support this? Or do I have to use a plugin in order to do this?
If you need to place a shortcode on the header areas then try the option at salient \ header navigation - layout & content related - Text To Display In Header. Select the text tab in that page editor inside the option, then add your shortcode there.

You can customize the "header.php" file via a Child Theme which contains the Search Bar code.
