Is there a way to display posts from a certain category the same way the portfolio images are displayed in the demo?

I am trying to do something similar to the 6 images near the bottom of http://www.talkcondo.com/. I already have many posts and zero portfolio items.

I want to be able to automate this so that I dont have to create a new image for each new item I feature. I would like the theme to take pictures from the post and display it with the title.

It would be great if this feature were added to the next update. 

P.S. I found a plug in that helped me do this (though not a pretty as your portfolio display).
