I was creating a post for my website using Salient Theme and then I realised that when I chose to upload an mp4 or WebM video to the self hosted video row and the video doesn't show up on iPhone devices. Now I have to post a link to YouTube but it doesn't have as minimalistic a design as the self hosted video.
Could you tell me why is this happening, and how can I solve this problem?
The self-hosted video player is indeed capable of playing on mobile devices. Can you kindly share a test page URL with that element active so that I can take a look?
It appears that Cloudflare is serving the videos in a way that is preventing iOS from being able to playback - You can test that the direct video file is unable to be played when accessed directly on your phone as well: https://noniussolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Video-Cast_EN.mp4
Hi, I have the same problem, the Self Hosted Video Player doesn't work with safari and I haven't understood how to solve it. If I paste the direct link to the video, it shows correctly.

Hey Diana!
The self-hosted video player is indeed capable of playing on mobile devices. Can you kindly share a test page URL with that element active so that I can take a look?
Thanks in advance
Sure!
Here you have a link with a self-hosted video player indeed: https://noniussolutions.com/chromecast-hotel/.
Is that enough? Thanks!
Yes, thank you

You can also test that this is the case by temporarily disabling/bypassing Cloudflare and testing again from your phone. Here's a help article I've located on the Cloudflare forums which should help in correcting it: https://community.cloudflare.com/t/solved-mp4-playback-in-safari-broken-with-cloudfare-nginx-server/136564
Kind regards
Thank you very much for your help.
I'll make some tests and see what can be done!
If I have any questions, I'll let you know. Thanks!
Hi again!
So, I was able to solve the problem because it happens in all IOs browsers, not only in Safari.
But as I told you, we can put the YouTube URL link instead of the self-hostel video. Is there any way to autoplay it?
Hey Again,
I am afraid there is no such theme option available for the Youtube video to autoplay.
Thanks
