    Hello,

As I wrote in Themeforest Discussion I found some issues caused by combination of plugin Polylang and Salient Theme. I will describe here detailed, but before that I would like to give you an admin access to my Wordpress Control Panel. So, can you please tell me your IP/s in order to make my site visible for it/them. Also please tell me do you need a FTP access too?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Ivaylo!
I'm also interested in this issue.

I have planned to built a multi-language website, and i consider Polylang as a language plugin.

Can you tell me what are these conflicts you found?
Do you have some fix to these?

    Thank you so much!
    Cheers.

PD: Sorry for my english. ;)

    Hi Borja C,

Well I found issues mainly with localisation (translation to Bulgarian) of Salient Theme. Seems installing of Polylang causes some conflicts with Salient theme. As a result Salient theme does not respect my translated language file bg_BG.po.

Btw, I am curious how you see my post? I made it private in order to be seen only by me and Salient developer? :) So, can you tell me please how much posts of mine you see above your post? I have 2 posts before yours, but think only 1 of them is private.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ivaylo!

Don't worry, I only see your first post:

    The other post is private.

Ok... DId you make the localization with Codestyling Localization plugin?
How do you resolve this conflict?

I need to localize the base theme to Spanish, and translate posts/pages and strings for 2 languages.

    I think I will use xili-language.
    Anybody can help? Any suggestion?

    Thanks!

Hey Ivaylo, could you kindly share your URL so I can check on the Slider issue?

    Borja,

the only multi lingual plugin that's been tested to work is WPML at this time

    Cheers

    Hey Ivaylo!

    1. Are you only having problems translating that string and few others or is it a lot of them not working?

    2. This sounds like an issue specific to the plugin you're using since it hasn't been reported with WPML or qtranslate - i'll try and test with polylang on my local setup to see if I can find the issue

    Hey again,

    1. Have you considered trying out one of the other multi lingual plugins which are known to not have this issue just to test?

    3. Add this into the custom css box located in your Salient Options panel:

    .swiper-slide .content img {
        height: auto!important;
    }

    Hi,

    1. I have tried a lot of other multilingual plugins and this issue doesn't occur, also doesn't occur when I uninstall Polylang. The problem is that this plugin is best for my purpose and it would be great if this problem can be fixed.

    3. It works great - thanks :)

    Cheers!

Strange, but just now I have deactivated Polylang and immediately after that activated it and the problem with the same "Parent Portfolio Override" link for both Latin and Cyrilic portfolio items was solved itself. I dunno how.

Unfortunately, the other translation problem described bellow is not affected by this deactivation/activation of Polylang. Maybe the problem is not in Polylang.

    1. I have tried to translate on Bulgarian the word "All" in Portfolio Sorting Filters. In order to do that I:

    a. Set "define('WPLANG', 'bg_BG');" in file "wp-config.php"
    b. Renamed files default.mo to bg_BG.mo and default.po to bg_BG.po, located in folder "../wp-content/themes/salient/lang"
    c. In file bg_BG.po changed the code as shown bellow

    line 435: msgid "All"
    line 436: msgstr "ВСИЧКИ"

Unfortunately, it doesn't work as you can see here - http://odigy.com/wp/%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B5%D0%B...

    That's good to hear!

It sounds like you've taken all the correct steps to translate so nothing is jumping out immediately why they won't take - but the fact they work with other translation plugins might mean there's some extra step with polylang I'm unaware of. Have you tried to post this on the plugin forums for better suited help?

  • Ivaylo replied

    Hello,

Well I have asked the Polylang developer for some help, describing him what I have done. And his answer was:

"This is not the right way to proceed. Renaming default.mo to bg_BG.mo hs no effect. bg_BG.mo must be generated by a relevant tool. You can use the plugin CodeStyling Localization to do this. It will allow you to translate your theme (no need to edit the .po file manually) and to generate the .mo file (which is the one read by WordPress, as WordPress totally ignores the .po file)."

So, I have installed Codestyling plugin, but get these errors:

Scripting Guard: The Plugin Codestyling Localization was forced to protect its own page rendering process against 6 incidents!

Expect, that any text you translate will not occure as long as the textdomain is mismatching!
This is a coding issue at the source files you try to translate, please contact the original Author and explain this mismatch.

Warning: The actual loaded translation content contains mixed textdomains and is not pure translateable within one textdomain.
It seems, that there is code contained extracted out of other plugins, themes or widgets and used by copy & paste inside some source files.

At the end I have uninstalled Codestyling and Polylang plugins and tried to make manual translation with .po and .mo files (as described in my previous post) but doesn't work. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but have no idea what.

    Please help me :)

  • Ivaylo replied

    Finally!!!

I solve my horrible problem :)

The solution was to leave empty the field "Custom Portfolio Page Sortable Text" in Tab: Salient/Portfolio and now the system gets the corresponding string (Bulgarian or English) directly from .po file.
