My site and my dashboard in wordpress are down. They are very slow and it's impossible to work in the dashboard. I asked for support and my provider said that the problem is that the theme (Salient) is not compatible with the latest version of wordpress. I can't erase and redo all the site, so I would ask you if will be a version of this theme that can work with the latest version of wordpress.
Those are the lines I received in an email from wordpress:

    Version of WordPress 6.0.3

Active theme: Salient Child Theme (v 1.0)

    Version of PHP 7.4.30

And the recurrent error is this:

    require_once(): Failed opening required '/web/htdocs/www.visualartsiuav.com/home/wp-content/plugins/salient-core/includes/post-grid/post-grid.php' (include_path='.:/php7.4/lib/php')

I really thank you for your help

    Hey Again,

Please update to the Latest Salient Theme Version.

The current version of the theme is 15.0.6 and the current version of the page builder is 6.9.1. Salient versions older than v11 won't be compatible with WordPress 5.5.

Here's the documentation on the available methods for updating Salient: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/#methods Once you've updated that, the update for the included page builder will become available. Note that "Visual Composer" also renamed their plugin on Envato to "WPbakery page builder" a couple of years back.

Here's an update guide on what to expect when jumping many major releases at once: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/important-salient-update-for-new-envato-requirements/ take a read through before the update, as many things have changed.

To get a list of Bug Fixes and new Feature addons in the Latest Theme updates view change log here http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html .

    Best.

If your site is down because the Salient theme is not compatible with the latest WordPress version, it’s usually caused by missing updates or theme–core conflicts due to poor upkeep. Regular WordPress maintenance helps prevent such downtime by keeping themes, plugins, and WordPress core secure, updated, and fully compatible.

    Hi George,

    Thanks for writing in!

To ensure your website remains secure, high-performing, and compatible with the latest web standards, it is essential to keep your theme, WordPress core, and PHP version up to date. As of January 2026, the recommended environment for the Salient theme is as follows:

    1. Update Salient Theme to v18.0.2

Updating to the latest version of Salient ensures you have the newest features and critical security patches.

    • Automatic Update: Navigate to Salient > Theme Online Update and ensure your Envato API key is entered to receive one-click updates directly in your dashboard.

    • Manual Update: Download the "Installable WordPress file only" from your ThemeForest Downloads and upload it via Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload.

    • Plugin Updates: After updating the theme, you must also update the Salient Core and Salient Portfolio plugins via the Plugins menu to maintain full functionality.

    • Documentation: You can find the full guide here: Updating Salient Documentation.

    2. Update WordPress Core

Running the latest version of WordPress is vital for the Gutenberg editor and theme compatibility.

    • Backup First: Always perform a full site backup before running a core update.

    • Update: Go to Dashboard > Updates and click "Update Now" if a newer version is available.

    3. Update PHP to 8.1 or 8.2

The Salient theme performs best on modern PHP versions, which offer significantly faster loading speeds and better memory management.

    • Check Version: You can view your current version under Salient > System Status.

    • How to Update: PHP updates are handled through your hosting control panel (e.g., cPanel, SiteGround, or Hostinger). We recommend using PHP 8.1 or 8.2 for optimal stability with Salient v18.x.
