Is there a shortcode so I can set my social icons (linking to my social pages - not the share buttons) ?

    Hi Judith,

I know where to "set" them.  But I want to use use them on a page.

Like you have in the footer and sup header.  I want to use them for example on my contact page. I'm looking for a shortcode that generates the social icons and not the social share icons.

    Hey Again,

I am afraid such a shortcode is not available in the Salient Theme. However escalating this to the developer for further response on this.

    Thanks

    HI Tahir,

Tnx!  It's not the first time I run into this, more clients have asked this "feature" :)

So would be nice to have it added to the shortcodes, shouldn't be to hard since it can already be done in footer and header.

@Tahir, did u get any feedback ?  I think you could give me php snippet and with a 3rd party plugin a shortcode could be made in the meantime?

    Hello again,

In the meantime, you can try using a plugin to add share links to your posts and pages. Here's one two you might want to look at or you can use something similar:

    Hello dickytall,

The plugin will help you add social links to your pages/posts https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-social-icons/. My apologies for the confusion. This has already been escalated to the developer for further response.

this is solved for me with that plugin.

BUT, I can't post a new ticket, I see in console an error when trying to submit new ticket after selecting theme in dropdown.

Can you guys check 'this ASAP?

    hi Andrew,

Yes, I was wondering that there was already a shortcode to add the social media icons.  In the Salient theme options we already input the social links, would be so great to have a shortcode that we could use those.  Just like they are used in the header sometimes :)

    Hello there,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Here's our guide to using shortcodes with our theme https://themenectar.com/docs/salient/salient-shortcodes-plugin/

You can also use the social button element if you need to display social buttons on posts and pages

Alternatively, you can also add using the icons or text with icon sections shown in the screenshot.

    I hope that helps.

Hey Andrew, This generates the "sharing" icons, no?

I need the social media urls, which are saved in the salient options and which are shown in the (sup)header when choosen :)

    Hello again,

Thank you for getting back to us.

This is currently not possible with the theme, you will have to use the icon elements earlier mentioned in the thread.

We appreciate your patience with this issue.

    Thanks,

    Hi

@tahir: you escalated this a year ago to the developer, hasn't anything done yet?

If we are using Global Sections for Footer, there should be a possibility to add the social media accounts without building them out of icons and adjusting them to the existing ones in the header...

    Best, Caspar
