    How do I add a background color for a menu item?

    If you're referring to the drop down menu under "Get Involved" on your site:

    In your dashboard, left hand control column: Salient > Header > scroll down to "drop down background".

    Hey Mark!

    You will have to set a 'Header Color Scheme" in Salient Theme options -> Header Section.
