If you need to lock your thumbnails to a specific aspect ratio, you could add the following snippet into the custom CSS box located in the Salient options panel > General Settings > CSS/Script related tab:
Thank you for this option, but it doesn't work for me. I don't want to lock the aspect ratio. My intention is to showcase my projects in the portfolio in a masonry layout, with images of various aspect ratios, but without the hover effects and without the project's image being cropped. Is there any way to do this with this theme?
Yes. As I told your colleague, I tried this and the hover effect was solved, but with the Post Grid the image gets cropped and I tried various combinations of settings. But nevermind. I gave up already, uninstalled the theme, and asked for a refund.
So, I have installed the theme again, just to double-check. I went through all of it again, and it's the same result. I tried different combinations of settings including image size, and grid item height. every time the result is a variation of my image being cropped. If I use the portfolio elements the images is ok, but I don't have any control of the hover effect. If I use the post grid element I have a workaround to make the hover effect invisible (not turning it off) the images are cropped no matter what. I attached screenshots.
On the same topic, I want to remove the hover effect in an image gallery as well. I am waiting for the refund. I will be looking for a theme that is more suited for a portfolio page.

Hi
I want an option to remove the zoom effect, the title, and the darkening of the portfolio items.
Basically, I am ok with just the cursor changing its shape when hovering to let the visitors know that they can click on the images.
Thank you

Hey tryingtodoart,
You can accomplish a zero hover effect by utilizing the Post Grid element. Here are the following settings that would be used to achieve that:
Just ensure to select "Portfolio" for the query in the general settings tab:
Kind regards
Thank you, this works, but now the image is cropped and I tried different settings.

Thank you for your help.
The "Image Size" field would need to be set to full if you dont want the images to be cropped:

Hey Again,
The hover can be removed with a bit of CSS if you wish to go that route.
Thanks.
