    I can't see a widget area to add social media icons to the header area. I know this is possible because I've seen it on other sites using Salient - I just can't figure out how they did it. Please help!

    Hey!

    Please see screenshot: http://prntscr.com/5iw6rm .  You need to set the secondary header option in Salient Theme Options -> Header Section.
