    Is it possible to edit text/html widgets in the footer using the shortcodes? For example, I would like to include a button, text with icons and a "fancy list" in two of the widgets on the page we're making for a client.

    Hey!

    Yes you can add the shortcodes in the text widgets. Also there are third party plugins that let you convert a shortcode to text widget.
