Is there a very, very simple explanation of Global sections and how to use them? I saw a Youtube video of someone, where Global Sections was explained but it was in the left bar, underneath 'Salient'. With me I see and can open Global Sections from Salient, and going to the right from within Salient. Is this the same?
But the short form of them is, yes you will find their section under the Salient menu item in the admin area. They are basically reusable sections you build that you can insert in various locations on the site. So basically edit once display in many places the same content.
Could you make sure you have installed and enabled all salient-related plugins? You can check from appearance \ install plugins area. If install plugins area is not present under appearance then it means all plugins are installed and updated and we would need to login to the backend if possible to find what might be causing this issue.
A username password with admin role would be best.
Yes, set and done Noah. All plugins are installed, or updated, or activated. Now I see Global Section in the left bar. It is also still showing when choosing Salient > Global Sections. Is that the same or is there a difference between the two?

The Global Sections does not appear on the left in the admin menu (see attachment). How come and how can I change it?

Both the Areas serve different purposes. One is used to create the Global Sections and the other is used to set display areas in the Theme.
