The blog posts are for listed live music events, If I change the date in the WP dashboard for the date the show, the blog post now becomes 'scheduled' and not published/active.
So in this case I can't list blog posts based on future dates as WP will schedule the post - but I need the feature of 'scheduling by date' in blog posts.
I have installed the plugin and activated in settings for posts/blogs etc. But it doesn't seem to be over riding Salients method of organising blog posts?
When I go to blogs I can drag and reorder posts, but on the event page I listed below it seem to be still incorporating Salients "order by last edited".
Hey Fionn, my apologies for the confusion on this ticket.
The plugin Post Types Order is capable of overriding the post loop builder element to apply a custom order without the need to alter any underlying code. I've swapped the previously recommended Intuitive Custom Post Order for that instead and can now see your custom order applying correctly on the frontend.
It would be great to see in an update. That blog posts could have a custom date displayed in the metadata. It looks great when enabled in the metadata tab on the loop builder element. Just unfortunate that Wordpress wont publish the page if the date is changed on that to a future date, it will only schedule.
Hi,
I am having issues with organising my blog posts. Currently at the moment I have them organised by last modified but I want to organise them by date.
I see the option in the dropdown menu for blog posts, but I cant see where to alter date to organise posts/events.
Hi Fionn,
Thanks for writing back.
Try using the Post Builder element and order by date as shown below:
Please let us know how this goes.
Hi Judith
Thanks for the reply. I have tried this but it is not working.
Where do I input the date?
Is there somewhere I can input the date on the blog post so the Post Loop Builder can take the date from this?
Hey Again,
You can adjust the dates in the WP Dashboard Posts Section. See screenshot below:
Thanks.

Hey Tahir,
So if you can see from the page ( https://whitehorse.ie/livemusic/ )

Hope this makes sense.
Hey Again,
If you only wish to change the display order of the posts you can use this plugin or similar: https://wordpress.org/plugins/intuitive-custom-post-order/
Thanks.

Thanks! Just installed that plugin
So instead of 'organising by date' what do I change the blog post order to so it takes the order of how I have them listed?
Hello again,
Thank you for getting back to us.
I'm not sure how you want them listed, but organizing by date would be the best way to make the blogs appear by the order in which you published them.
I hope this clarifies your query.
Cheers,

If you use the plugin the order will be dictated by the plugin irrespective of what you choose in the Page Element.
Thanks.

Hi Fionn,
Thanks for writing back.
Once I add the date from the metadata tab, then order by date, I see them ordered as they should:
Please confirm whether works for you as well.
I look forward to hearing from you.

This plugin works perfect thanks very much!
