So, I'm learning that for each image the site is creating approx 25 images for every possible size upon upload. While I think this is awesome for file delivery, it's also seems a bit silly that my site will probably only deliver a small percentage of them...correct?

Based off of a  great recommendation from the ticksy team, I've been using Imagify to optimize and create WebP files for my site. I'm a photographer and admittedly I have way too many images, nonetheless I'm still displaying over 1000K images throughout my portfolio. So you could probably understand my surprise when I got a message from my hosting site that I had blown way past my file allocation and when I do the math...1200 x 25 then double it with the WebP files...I now understand why my hosting company restricted my site today.

So...the question is, is it necessary to have literally 50 versions (25 jpg / 25 webP) of each upload or can I turn a lot of this off? For instance each image I upload is generally 2000x1333 (this I've found is the sweet spot) and honestly would like to display each image this size (when expanded full screen in the gallery).  Most of my thumbnails are a little bigger so I have them set to 500x500, and then I guess have my hero images that I also want to display 2000x1333... so the question is, do I need more than these 3 formats, can I select half, will it cause problems if I dont have all enabled?

Thx in advance for the assistance.

    Hi Eric,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Here's a resource that can help you clean up your media gallery https://wpengine.com/resources/wordpress-media-library-clean-up/. You can also see this guide to help you with this https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-prevent-wordpress-from-generating-image-sizes/.

You can overwrite the Nectar Images Size Function via a Child Theme as shown in our guide here: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/modify-image-sizes/.

    I hope that info helps.

    Kind regards,
