I have an issue when I want to create parent for other pages. I want to create portfolio site as a parent for each project. Once it setted, it causes 404 error while opening a child page.
Try and refresh your permalinks by going to wp-admin > appearance > Permalinks and click save. If you have an auto optimize plugin, clear your cache after refreshing your permalinks.
In this case, permalinks that is, you can not use /%portfolio%/ as it is not a defined structure tag by WordPress and hence why you keep getting the 404 error. You need to change the custom permalink structure to /%postname%/ for you to stop getting the 404 error. The portfolio is a custom post type set by the theme and it is not recognized by the WordPress. You can read more on permalinks in this article https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/customize-permalinks/. This is a WordPress core functionality and is not controlled by the theme.
If you want to set a custom slug for your portfolio items, you can do so in the Salient > Portfolio > Functionality and set the slug there.
Ensure to refresh your permalinks after making these changes.
