    I am a web developer trying to migrate a new client to my server - when I import it, the site works fine but I cannot access the admin area due to an error pointing to the theme - salient/nectar/redux .... is this due to the temporary domain?

    The only way I can get rid of it is to delete the theme. Could you tell me why this is happening and if there is a fix? I will pay for a new license IF it fixes the problem - if it doesn't, can I get a refund?

    The owner doesn't know where the original license info is, it was years ago I guess.

    Thank you ~Margo

    Hi Margo,

    Thank your for reaching out to us.

    To fix the error, could you try contacting your hosting provider and ask them to restore the last version of your site that was working? Once this is done I would recommend updating the theme to the latest version to ensure a smooth transition. Here's the documentation on the available methods for updating Salient: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/#methods.

    Here's an updated guide on what to expect when jumping many major releases at once: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/important-salient-update-for-new-envato-requirements/ take a read-through before the update, as many things have changed.

    To get a list of Bug Fixes and new Feature add-ons in the Latest Theme updates view the change log here http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html .

    As for the refund. we always provide refunds for anyone who requests. Once you fill out the form here, we'll be able to approve it from our end and it should be issued back to you from Envato within a couple of business days.

    Thanks,

    Thank you Andrew,

    Restoring from a backup is not applicable here since this is regarding a migration ... There is no backup at the new location where the error appears.

    I will try the route of purchasing a new license and installing it and request a refund if it still won't work --- I was hoping that the error message would help you identify the issue.

    Thanks again,

    ~Margo

    Hey Again,

    Try switching the PHP version and check as well. Also the screenshot is only showing PHP warnings and no Fatal Error so the site should function correctly if its copied in the right manner.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    The site displays, but the admin area is not accessible --- the error screen appears when you enter /admin.

    Yes, I did try various versions of PHP, didn't seem to make a difference. Once I deleted the theme folder I was able to get it.

    I think I am going to try buying a new license and installing that to see if it will eliminate the error and retain the existing layouts that are in there.

    BTW ...what do you mean copied in the right manner? I tried several migration tools that I use regularly, WP all-in-one and 2 others...same result. If you have another suggestion I will try that first.

    Hey Again,

    Try turning off the PHP warnings and check. Also try the update route as well.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    I tried your suggestion about turning off PHP warnings by adding this code to wp-config.php

    ini_set('display_errors','Off');
    ini_set('error_reporting', E_ALL );
    define('WP_DEBUG', false);
    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

    and it made a difference. Now I get this screen ---- could this be something that was coded by the previous host?:

    Try reverting to the original wp-config file and check.

    Thank you Tahir,

    Once I started assessing the WP-config file, I realized there were some extra lines of code in there that prevented the migration tool from updating the database access information  - and also interfered with admin login path - I was able to modify that file until it finally worked!!

    Thanks again !
