    Hi,

I'm trying to add a sidebar to the right of my site. I want it to be on all the pages except for my homepage. I hired someone to create my site over a year ago and they created it using a child theme from Salient. I have figured out how to change a lot and edit a lot with it. However, I can't seem to figure this out. I'm not able to contact the person who created the site for me. So, I thought I'd reach out to you and see if you can help.

Just to reiterate, I'm asking how to add a side bar to all the pages of my website except the homepage.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you,

    Sarah

    Hey Again,

You need to set the "Page Template" in the WP Dashboard backend to use the "Sidebar" template. See screenshot:

    Thanks.

    Tahir,

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! That’s exactly what I was wanting!

Is there a place where I can edit the sidebar template? After I set the template to it my footer is gone on that page.

I can’t thank you enough! That’s exactly what I was needing. I was able to fix it how I wanted using your screenshots.

I just have one last question and then I’ll leave you alone:

How do I add the side bar to my blog posts? I have it set up the way I want it in appearance > widgets > blog sidebar. But, the sidebar isn’t showing up in my blog posts.

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

You can add the side bar to your blog archive pages by changing the Blog Format in the Salient > Blog > General settings as shown in this screenshot.

As for your single posts, you need to toggle off the Hide Sidebar on Single Post option by navigating to Salient > Blog > Single Post. Here's a screenshot of the same.

Try this and let us know how it goes.

    Thanks.
