The child theme rides on the changes that are made to the parent theme and allows you to make changes to the main theme that will not be overridden after an update. If you are using the salient social plugin, this allows you to add the social plugins shown in this screenshot. You can try using the icons element in your page builder to add as many social icons as you want to have.

You can enable the Social Icons in the Salient Theme Options Panel -> Header Navigation Section . See screenshot:
