Responsive Design not Working

    Hello,

The staff who originally purchased this theme had left the company a few months ago.I just got assigned to do some maintenance and updating.

    Here are some questions.

    1) "Enable Responsive Design" does not seem to be working. I tried to turn it on, then checked on different PC, notebook, and mobile screens, I could not see the website adapting to the different screen sizes.

    2) I tried to upload a new image size 1600px by 800px to Nectar Slider, but it appeared cropped, and the cropping was different when seen on different screen sizes. Is it because of the issue mentioned in (1) above?

    Thank you.

    Hey!

Please update to Salient Theme Version 5.0 . You can update your theme by downloading a fresh copy from ThemeForest, renaming the current theme folder and upload the new folder via FTP.

    See url : http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes  .

    Thanks

    Hello,

Please take a look at the attached screen capture files.

The version of Salient being used is a customised child of the original version. If that\\\\\\\'s the case, when I update to version 5.0, do I need to also re-construct this customised child version, or will it automatically be updated, since the parent version is being updated?

    Hey Again!

You might need some or no changes depending on what you have customized .

Also try using the Flexible Slider Height option in Nectar Slider.

Also when using the flexible slider height option you have to enter the slider height based on how big your images would be at 1600px width - this will ensure the scaling is perfect with no clipping. To find the correct height for your images use this: http://andrew.hedges.name/experiments/aspect_ratio/ . The default width for images is 1600px so for example a image that is 1904 x 738px would be converted to 1600 x 620px if scaled down. Therefore slider height would be set to 620 px .

The flexible slider height option makes the Nectar Slider respond perfectly to ensure there\'s no clipping on any view - leaving it off will cause the height of the slider to change only once per every viewport change (desktop, ipad, mobile) and clip variously between them.
    Thanks

    Hello,

Sorry for the late reply. Work got busy late last week. Noted your instruction. I will do the needful, and follow up again in a few days' time to update on the outcome.

Something else to check. I read in some forums that for some themes, the responsive feature is not be working because there are plugins installed that are not responsive. Is it the same for this Salient theme too?

    Thank you.

    Hey!

Yes if the plugins place non respeonsive content inside a responsive div chances are it wont work.

    Best,

    Hello,

To update, I found out that the Event Expresso calendar (version 2.2.6.p) is not responsive, so that might be one of the problems.

Will update again if found other faults.

    Thank you.
