I'm looking to add a social icon for TikTok and X(Twitter) as an ICON, rather than using the header/footer social feature.
Since I'm using a global footer rather than the theme built-in one, I need to use the 'icon' features to add my social buttons in. There is not currently a tiktok or X icon in the 'icon' menu. I'm hoping to understand 1) is it possible to add in custom icons or update the library it is using or 2) can I insert an icon and add css to swap it with one from the set the header/footer function uses.
You can use the icon element to add icons to your site :
Also you can use CSS to replace an existing icon with anyone of your choice especially the FontAwesome icons.

Hi Judith, yes. I am currently using the 'icon' element. My issue is that the 'tiktok' icon (in FA, it is 'fa-brands fa-tiktok') is not available in my theme. I am asking if 1) it is possible to update the FA version that is being used to expand my icon options. or 2) use css to swap, for example, 'fa fa-play' with 'fa-brands fa-tiktok'. The 2nd option seems not to work since, that class is not available.
I updated the theme - This didn't seem to update the FA library. However, I was able to find an included TikTok logo and X logo in the 'Additional Brands' library, rather than the Font Awesome Library. They are a slight mismatch in style due to being from different packs, but it will work. I don't know whether this arrived in the updated Salient theme or whether it was there prior. Please check and ensure that you're running the latest version of the theme as the theme was updated to include those icons.
