I can see this have been an issue since at least 2014. Can you fix the code so Google can index my site?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing to us.

This is a unique issue because we are not replicating it and also we haven't received any reports from the users concerning this.

To help you resolve the "noindex" issue for your WordPress site in Google Search Console, follow these steps:

    1. Check WordPress Settings:
      • Go to your WordPress dashboard.
      • Navigate to Settings > Reading.
      • Ensure that the option "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" is unchecked.
    2. Review Robots.txt:
      • Go to your site's root directory and find the robots.txt file.
      • Ensure it does not contain Disallow: / or Noindex directives that block search engines from indexing your site.
      • Example of an open robots.txt file:
        User-agent: *
        Disallow:

    3. Inspect Meta Tags:
      • Check your site's HTML source code for <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> tags.
      • Ensure that no pages you want indexed have this tag.
    4. Yoast SEO Plugin (if used):
      • If you are using the Yoast SEO plugin, go to SEO > Search Appearance.
      • Verify that the appropriate content types are set to "Show" in search results.
      • Go to SEO > Tools and use the "File editor" to ensure the robots.txt and .htaccess files do not have disallow or noindex directives.
    5. Google Search Console:
      • Log in to Google Search Console.
      • Navigate to URL Inspection and enter the URL you want to check.
      • If the URL is marked as "noindex," Google will provide a reason.
      • If issues are found, correct them on your WordPress site and request a re-index from Google Search Console.
    6. Fetch as Google:
      • In Google Search Console, use the URL Inspection tool to "Fetch as Google" and request indexing.

After making these changes, it might take some time for Google to re-crawl and index your site. Monitor your site in Google Search Console for updates.

I truly hope this proves helpful for you. Should you have any further questions or encounter any difficulties along the way, please don't hesitate to reach out.

    Best regards,
