    When I view pages with a google map element, the map does not appear. Everything else on the page loads fine, but the map is just not there. This occurs for my local installation of wordpress 4.1 with Salient 5.0, as well as when I view your demo page.

    Hmm. My Firefox version is 35.0.1

    I uninstalled Firefox and Firefox profile and reinstalled and now it works! Weird ...
