I am a web developer and have been contracted to work on a WordPress site that has Salient Visual Composer version 5.2.1 installed and used to create pages. This plugin apparently is from 2017. We will be moving this site to a hosting solution that uses PHP 8.1 (minimum) and Nginx. I need to be able to upgrade this plugin (along with the WordPress version) but after a couple of hours on the internet can find no direct way of doing so. Upgrading from the plugin itself is impossible as all the links simply open the WPBakery.com home page. WPBakery requires a license to even talk to their support team. I don't mind doing that if I know WPBakery can/will replace SVC but was hoping someone out there could give me a clue as to how to proceed...thanks!

    Hey Tim Furry,

You will have to update the Theme as well as the Plugin in order to correct the site.

    Please view: https://themenectar.com/docs/salient/important-salient-update-for-new-envato-requirements/

Then update to the Latest Salient Theme Version.

The current version of the theme is v17.0.3 (9/23/24) and the current version of the page builder is 7.8.1 . Salient versions older than v11 won't be compatible with WordPress 5.5.

Here's the documentation on the available methods for updating Salient: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/#methods

To get a list of Bug Fixes and new Feature addons in the Latest Theme updates view change log here http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html .

    Best.

    Hi Tahir,

Thanks for the rapid reply. I've poked around for quite awhile and it looks like the only solution is to pay another $60 for a newer version of the Salient theme...is that correct? I can't find anyplace like a "Step 1. Download the Salient theme archive from ThemeForest" archive, everything redirects back to either purchasing a new license or the change log.

It's hard to justify the purchase when I have serious doubts about it actually fixing the problem.

    Hey Again,

Yes, if you dont have access to the Themeforest Account that purchased the Salient Theme initially you will have to purchase a new license to get the new update.

This is a common issue and we get numerous tickets such as yours regarding an outdated version of Salient, rest assured this is the actual fix.

    Thanks.
