Site appeared broken this morning, was fine last evening. Checked, Salient had an update waiting, applied it. Still the same problem. It appeared to be a problem with JS because all elements that would be using it were showing code on-screen in browser and of course then not working.
I discovered that disabling our 'SG Site Optimizer' plugin's setting "Defer Render-blocking JavaScript" fixed the issue. This was same before and after the Salient update. However, before the Salient update the affected elements like video lightboxes, drop down menu lists and slide-in right menu etc simply didn't work and in case of videos displayed a blank white space.
After the Salient update those elements all displayed their html code in the browser instead.
Just wondering if you have any insights as to why this change occurred so we might be able to being able to use "Defer Render-blocking JavaScript" setting again to help speed the site up
Thanks for the response, I wasn't aware of that new Salient performance feature. There must be a problem with the SG Site Optimize plugin because if I disable the Salient 'Defer Javascript...' and re-enable the same feature in the SG Optimizer, the problem is still there (cache being cleared fully between tries).
We're probably fine with just using the Salient feature for this IF it's addressing ALL the Javascript in the site, and not just the Salient JS... is this the case?
If not, I'll have to take it up with Siteground because it appears their plugin may have developed a bug now.

Hey Again,
Try adjusting the Performance Settings in the Salient Theme Options Panel and check:

Hey Again,
The Salient feature only delays the Salient JS and not other Third Party Plugin code.
