Hello everyone, I just found out that the Salient Theme used by our company was very outdated ( Version 8.1.0). I've done some researching and I just found out that the latest version is now version 17.0.7. Do i need to contact the previous wordrpress developer to download the newest version and hand it to me so that I can install it on Wordpress manually or there are better ways to update this. I'm also worried if the structure of the website will be affected after updating as it is a very outdated version back in 2017. Thank you!

    Hello Jhastine,

    Thanks for writing to us.

Since you are updating from an old version then the site is potentially able to break.

I would request you do the following.

-Use this guide to help update - https://themenectar.com/docs/salient/important-salient-update-for-new-envato-requirements/

-Also ensure you first update on a staging site with the help of a developer so that once it is successful you can migrate to your live site so that your live site is not interfered with.

Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, don't hesitate to write back, I'm happy to help.

Hello Judith, I've contacted the previous dev and he sent me pdf of the license. And I've already installed the envato market plugin in Wordpress. How can I update this? Do i need to request the dev to download the update on his envato account and hand it to me? Or there is much better way? Thank you!

    Hi again,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Here are various methods that you can use to update the theme https://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/.

You can reach out to the dev and ask them to share the salient zip file if you wish to manually update the theme. I recommend taking a backup of your site before updating the theme as the theme might break since you are jumping between major versions of the theme.

Alternatively, you can purchase your own license so you can have access to your Envato/ThemeForest account without having to reach out to the dev every time.

    I hope that helps.

    Regards,

    Hello Jhastine,

    Thanks for writing back.

You can ask them to download the zip file then you upload and install the theme.

You can install this first on a staging site then once the outcome is as you would expect then you can upload on live site as well.

If you have any more questions or run into any problems, please feel free to reach out.

    Best regards,
