We are running into a bandwidth issue across several sites that are using video backgrounds in Nectar Sliders. Despite trying to compress the files as best we can, the individual mp4 and webm files are large and use bandwidth fast.
Is there a way to utilize remote hosted (youtube, vimeo or cloud hosted - drive, dropbox, etc.) files instead of self-hosted / uploaded files?
Please note that, only Self Hosted Videos would play on Mobile if we do not turn them off in the Salient Theme Options Panel > General Settings > Functionality. This means that YouTube/Vimeo videos will not play on mobile.
Where do we enter the youtube URL for the video background in the Nectar Slide settings?
What would show up on Mobile? Could we replace it with a image thumbnail or is it just a solid color background?
And why can't we allow the same video to play on mobile? I realize that IF we have a webm file, your system plays that, but couldn't we simply allow the youtube video to play in all situations?

Hi Tony,
Thank you for getting in touch.
You can add YouTube/Vimeo background videos to rows as you can see in this guide https://themenectar.com/docs/salient/page-builder-row/#video-background.

I hope that helps you make your decision.
Thanks,
Thanks, Andrew.
