I am using version 5.0. All other share options are working from Portfolio items, but Pinterest is not. I get this message "Parameter 'image_url' (value /wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Ambler1.jpg) is not a valid URL format." which I understand means the full url is not being sent to Pinterest. Is there a way to fix this?
Portfolio items can be found on this page http://artisphere.us/visual-arts
I have installed it, but don't know exactly how it interacts with the template...nothing seems to have changed simply by installing and activating it...
I have a featured image for everything - that is all that support thread talks about. It looks like the problem is that the http://domain.com is not being picked up - just the /wp-content and after. I don't understand why these outside things may be the answer when the share button is part of the template?
At the risk of sounding ignorant, because I am not a developer, can you go into whatever line of code is telling Pinterest what image to pull and make it pull the full url instead of just what comes after the domain.com/
Hey Ellison, Are you using any plugin to make the URLs relative instead of absolute on your featured images? If not could you kindly allow me to log in so I can check on things for you?
Hey again - I'm still seeing the URLs relative such as "/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Allen1.jpg" - could you try reuploading one of the featured images to see if it regenerates the URL correctly as a test?
Yes - I just added a new image and it is still coming up with the relative URL...I thought that was just what WP did when you uploaded media. I always deactivate the Root Relative plugin that my host automatically includes, but every site I build does the media urls like that...
I have used the plugin Pinterest for Galleries to share to Pinterest on other sites (with other templates) and even though the media url is just /wp-content/etc. it still works...just FYI.
Any thoughts? Anyone else have this problem with Salient or do you think it is rooted in my installation of Wordpress somehow?
The technique for the Pinterest Sharing in Salient simply grabs the featured image URL so it would need to be absolute - If you can't find the cause of the relative linking within your setup a quickfix would be to open your init.js file located in the js folder of your theme and add this:

When I have a header image on a post, the pinterest share is grabbing the header image INSTEAD of the featured image. Is there anyway to change this?
