Home page - how do I get the style of the recent work items to match the style of the items in my portfolio? I chose "Meta on hover + entire thumb link" in Salient --> Portfolio --> Project style, which shows up on the portfolio page but not the portfolio section of the home page.

You will have to edit the Home page portfolio VC options as can be seen here:
.
As regards the Slider, we dont have any such feature and would likely require custom work.
