Overriding parent CSS (avoiding use of !important tags)

I'm having some trouble overriding the parent CSS stylesheets (style.css & ascend.css, namely) for certain elements. Some of the parent CSS elements have !important tags which I can't override, and I'd prefer not to have to use a lot of !important tags on my end either.

My CSS is all placed in the Custom CSS section of Salient options.

Any idea how I can fix this? I want to minimize the amount of overriding I have to do with my own CSS.

    Thank you.

    Hey,

I am afraid with the current structure of the theme you would have to use !important tags. We do have a Major update in the works with a updated Visual Composer so that should improve things significantly.

    Thanks
