Having trouble verifying my site ownership to sign into Google webmaster search console. I should be able to do this by adding my google analytics tracking code in the appropriate spot in Salient general settings, which I have done, but still cannot verify the site. I am copying and pasting the entire script from google, have tried it various times over the past month and a half and still not working. Suggestions?

    Hey ,

This is the only odd thing that i can see: http://prntscr.com/7w6w4w . That is the script tag does not have a type=text/javascript defined .

    Thanks

I have this issue too. I believe it is because the code is not in the <head>, as Google instructs here.

\"For Google to use your Google Analytics tracking code for verification, the tracking code should be in the <head> (not the <body>) section of your page.\"

    Jonathan,

I just used the GWT >> Alternate methods >>HTML Tag and copied the 43 character key from BETWEEN the content= quotes and pasted it in Yoast SEO >> General Settings >> Google Search Console box.

The Yoast SEO plugin adds <meta name=\"google-site-verification\" content=\" for you.

    Worked perfect.
