As I finally found some time to upgrade to the newest Salient (6.0.4) version, I also wanted to try if I would still have the same portfolio issues I was already having 1 year ago:
What I found out so far - there still seems to be an issue with the whole pagination thing :-/
If I choose another portfolio category (beside ALL) as the starting category to load/show first on the portfolio page, it now happens that at the beginning (before I start scrolling) only a couple of the portfolio items (not the "projects per page" number I set up in the portfolio options) are showing up.
Even if I try to scroll down and load more portfolio items, nothing happens (even if it seems to load something). Sometimes I can't even scroll down to start the "trigger" to keep loading new elements.
That's really strange because if I choose the default portfolio section to load first, scrolling down and loading further items through the infinite scroll just seem to work fine.
Only if the start category is set to anything than "default", things start to get strange and don't load properly.
Would love to find a workaround for this to finally use portfolio filters without any problems again.

Sometimes it says 2 items and then it works as expected. I don\'t know why and when it goes wrong. If it seems to work OK then jump through other filters and then suddenly it may say 40 items again, and then sometimes 2.
At least with browser Chrome, but I\'ve seen it happen with Firefox too.

Still couldn\'t find a way that perfectly fits all my portfolio items so far. (pagination obviously can\'t handle it)
It would make so much sense to simply create one main portfolio item per \"project\" which includes additional \"items\" (photos in my case) of this project as a slideable lightbox when it\'s being selected. (I don\'t want to create a separate page for each project)
It just makes sense if you want to show your portfolio as a photographer.
It could be so easy:
- Upload all entire items (in my case photos) of a project
- Select the main project item you want to show first and be selectable (featured image)
- On selection of the specific project, all other photos of this project open in a lightbox slider as shown here:
...and in addition, it would save a lot of loading time if the theme wouldn\'t have to load all project items at once instead of only one per project first.
I gave up pagination as well. Let\'s say it loaded 20 items and 1 item was Category B then when you filter Category B it only showed 1 item. It makes sense but it should load e.g. max 20 of the current category automatically.
Perhaps it\'s improved now. I know it worked like this in the past.
