The popular method to posting videos seems to be using the slider, but I have no desires to do this. I would like to create a thumbnail image that links to a pop up video player. I've seen WP sites that use things like lightbox or similar to have pop up viewers. The built in video shortcode didn't work. I just see the horizontal timeline that says 00:00 and nothing plays. I really don't want to host the video on YouTube or Vimeo unless I have no other choice. I'm just wondering what the preferred method to viewing a video would be, outside the slider area. I want to avoid any 3rd party plugins on the site for this if possible. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I don't have a link to share, still developing on localhost. I assume it's a general enough question.
You likely dont have the correct video formats for the video shortcode . Please see Section 3.1 Troubleshooting Video Backgrounds in the user guide : http://themenectar.com/docs/salient.pdf .
Again, the idea is not putting it in as a video background or part of a slider. I just wanted the video to open in a pop up like the iframe capability in HTML. If that\'s not possible I will likely just embed a vimeo video on the page itself. But to confirm, I did have the htcaccess correct and was using an MP4. Thanks for the reply.
