when reducing the size of my PC browser to mimic mobile, the button for mobile menu opens the offcanvas side widget area instead of the menu. The feature was never enabled.
Nevermind, I uploaded an older version of salient and its fine now. Not sure what the problem is, but for some reason it was adding the main menu into the offcanvas menu/widget area and anytime mobile size or mobile device was used, the mobile menu button opened the offcanvas instead.

Be sure to turn off Header Sticky On Mobile option in Salient Theme Options Panel .
