I purchased the Salient theme yesterday afternoon and was very excited to get started on filling in content, however, I'm experiencing an issue with the Demo Importer that I think you'd be interested in knowing about. I clicked to import the demo and the loading 'begins' but never ends. I've let it load for quite some time and still no success. I've restarted the download 5 times and still no success. I've tried important different demos just in case, and still no success.
I'm looking at the Network log and there are two things I'm noticing:
1. The request connection to whatever server the demo information is on, is SUPER slow. Or possibly down all together.
2. The UI button click seems to be failing to be registered as an event. It just animates, but no additional requests or activity are happening.
I've taken a couple of screenshots for you to see, one of the user experience and one of the networking console in Google Chrome. ( I have tried a different browser 'Safari' and received the same results. )
HERE IS A LINK TO THE LATEST Screenshot, since it wouldn't let me attach:http://imgur.com/72945Xm
I\'m working on a new installation,
should I just change the files?
Well, it would be nice, if you have explained what is the problem with standard
demo data import and if it can be fixed.
I\'m not sure, if I should deduct my time for working with this theme, if such a
bug happens the first 5 minutes.
Tahir,
I uploaded theme settings, than I used the recommended plugin to import content
(wordpress importer). I assigned posts to existing import. Than some error accrued
( the file was recognized to be empty) and the site doesn’t look like demo at
all.
I\'m not a WordPress pro -
please help me import dummy content.
yep, need help with this as well. used demo-importer to import the \"one page\" demo. says it\'s been imported but the site does not have any of the images or styling as the demo. then i tried to use wordpress importer to import the content.xml file you linked to earlier in this thread but i get an errors immediately:
Failed to import Media “home” Failed to import Media “logo” Failed to import Media “logo” Failed to import Media “logo2”
i assume i should be checking the \"Download and import file attachments\" option, no?
please help!
update: ok, i\'m beginning to figure this out. a little more complex than other dummy content I\'ve used. installed the vc plugin and that fixed much of the styling issue. i see the fonts will all need to be manually adjusted to match the demo. and i guess the imagery will need to be manually inserted as well.
if you have a chance, could you explain how to get the initial header to overlap the nectar slider as in the one page demo. i\'ll keep digging, but so far i can\'t figure out where that setting is. thanks.
you just need to import the demo theme options as well. You can find them located in the demo-theme-options.txt file inside of the agency dummy data file. To import, simply copy and paste the contents from that file into the import/export section of the Salient options panel
I\'m having the same issue and am not clear as to how to import \"the standard way\". I looked at the link provided below and didn\'t understand a word on the screen. \"Atlassian Confluence\"?!
UPDATE: Okay, I uploaded the provided xml file via the Wordpress Importer and got the same errors...
Failed to import Media “home” Failed to import Media “logo” Failed to import Media “logo” Failed to import Media “logo2”
I then uploaded the theme-options.txt
And my site is still blank... www.threepalmsstudio.com
not an expert but it looks to me like you need to select \"Home\" as the static home page (appearance > customize in the left admin menu). also make sure you install the salient visual composer plugin...
You can now Import the Dummy data as well as Theme options within the Dashboard using the Demo Importer Section in Salient Theme Options Panel . See screenshot: http://prntscr.com/9qczqr .
I'm using the demo importer but when I click on 'Import Demo' for the 'Agency' Demo it keeps saying 'please wait'. I've clicked it several times and have been waiting for an hour. How can I solve this? Hope you can help me out!
I'm going through the same thing now. The content (images and text) doesn't get imported. It would take a very long time to do this manually... Two of the links in the answers below no longer work. If anyone has figured this out, please let me know.
Furthermore the error message is: "File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini."
I already checked folder permissions and the file_uploads/upload_max_filesize/post_max_size/max_execution_time parameters in php.ini. Everything seems to be alright. It can't be that the content.xml is to big, it's mostly only about 500KB. Also I am able to import other data which is not from the salient theme.
Do you have any other hint on importing the demo data manually? I'd really like to see the demo pages. (Are they online somewhere?) Can anybody else reproduce this error?
yes, sorry, I forgot to mention that in my last post. There are no PHP errors when importing the data. (I can see other errors if there are any.) It is my local installation so I can check the server configuration. I guess everything is fine as I am also able to import/upload other files.
It would be interesting to know if others can observe the same behavior when importing data manually.
the site I'm currenty working on is not yet online, so not visible for the public. Or which login details do you mean? I'm not sure if I understand you correctly.
the same problem of anyone in this thread. The PHP.ini is set well (time, size, etc) and even to import manually gives the following message: The link you followed has expired.
Same problem here. Related to your advice on PHP, I contacted SiteGround, and they told me: "
we do have a max execution time of 120 seconds, which is 20 more than what the plugin requires. Still, just to be on the safe side, I will set a dynamic rule of the site to add a few minutes on top, so we can check if that will help". It did NOT help, the download is still at zero.
Of course, I would say what one of your customers said bellow, if you knew there is a problem, we would like you to MENTION IT BEFORE WE PURCHASE THE THEME. I'm still thinking if this is a kind of scheme to make me pay you extra 50 for installing the theme, but I remember I payed for 6 months assistance. And I'm an EU customer, very spoiled, as you probably know :)
I'm not getting PHP errors. That was my point: I had help from the customer service on SiteGround, and still I simply cannot download demo (the one named Agency). I don't need images, I only need the Agency demo, because that was the reason why I bought your theme. What can I do now?
Did you try deactivating the WP importer Plugin and then try to import it ?. What happens to import percentage bar in the Salient Theme options Panel ?.
Earlier this week I bought the Salient-theme for my wordpress website.
One of the features of the theme is that it allows for multiple demo sites to be downloaded directely on my site.
I have done this for the ‘blog dark’ demo.
While I have downloaded and activated all required plug-ins, only half the content seems to be on my site (not the header, slider, and other pages). What could bet he problem here?

I have a similar problem.
I click on the \"import demo\" button, but nothing happens.
And I also don\'t see the images of different demos.
Please help.
Hey Guys,
Please use the attached demo files and import it the standard way: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7jcJ_6_Es4vSFp1V0FuVDYwMXc/view?usp=sharing . Also see: https://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content .

Hey Jonathan! Did you find a simpler way to adjust the fonts and images to match the actual Demo?

@Nandadyssou,
Please check for server php errors using this guide: http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/your-complete-guide-to-troubleshooting-wordpress/ . It would be best to contact the hosting provider and have them look into this as they are aware of the Server Configuration Details .

Hello Tahir,
thank you for this suggestion.
I'm also having the same problem with the demo importer on my local WordPress installation.
So I tried importing manually as described here: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/importing-demo-content/
which did not work as well. I'm getting a "The link you followed has expired." error and the data is only imported partially.
It can't be that the content.xml is to big, it's mostly only about 500KB.

the same problem of anyone in this thread. The PHP.ini is set well (time, size, etc) and even to import manually gives the following message: The link you followed has expired.
The goal is to set up the Startup demo to this website: http://www.theangelstz.org/
