Please help!

I'm trying to make some changes to Salient's Standard Blog w/Sidebar. There are three changes I am trying to make.

1 - remove the side bar next to blog heading

2 - under the blog heading, in the sub-heading I need to remove the "comments" and replace this with the date

3 - add blog featured image above the blog heading

Any ideas on how this can be done?

Essentially I'm trying to get the blog page format to resemble https://blog.quantum.com

Guidance would be appreciated!
