When my logo appears upon first scroll down, the fade in animation isn't smooth, it appears digitized at first before it becomes clear. Also, on mobile, the edges don't look very clean. I'm thinking I may not be using the ideal file size or type. The file I'm using is a png that is 160.5 kb and 1176 x 1176. Am I doing something wrong here?

Yes try using a JPG only 72 x 72 and double for Retina . Also make sure to add all 6 logo in their respective Theme Options Fields.
