Probably something really simple im not doing. But im trying to update my themeforest theme on wordpress using the Envato Toolkit. Im using Salient as my theme and i have followed the steps you guy have provided to update it but first creating an API key and then downloading the toolkit from github and then installing and activating it on wordpress. That all worked fine and it displays my purchased theme (salient) and i press the "update automaticly" button and it then goes to a page saying "

    Update Theme

Downloading upgrade package from the Envato API…

but it then just hangs here and never gets passed it. I left it here for a while (a couple of hours) and nothing happens i have a pretty good internet connection so I doubt it would take this long to download.

any way, any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Hey,
Please try FTP . Update the theme by following this guide: https://themenectar.ticksy.com/article/3218/ . Also see Visual Composer update instructions in here: https://themenectar.ticksy.com/article/5182/
    Best.

Hi that seemed to the trick all though I now cant seem to update the "Salient Visual Composer" and it made a right mess of my website as the styling now all completely off. What do I need to do to make it work? Is there a way of manually updating it? Instead of just clicking the "begin installing plugin" button on the dashboard.

    Hey Again,

Yes the Salient VC plugin is inside the  "salient/plugins" folder . You can upload the Zip directly via The WP dashboard Plugin Menu.

    Best.

    Hey Again,

Please see: http://codex.wordpress.org/Common_WordPress_Errors#Maximum_execution_time_exceeded . Even if you FTP it and the server timesout the upload would not be 100% .

Please contact your hosting provider so they can fix this for you.

    best.
