is it possible to replace the header text in the nectar slider with an image?

Hey,
Yes simply add in a img html tag in the Text Area .

Add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel (Make Sure there are no red cross in the Box) :

#page-header-bg h1 { display: none !important; }
