Salient Nectar Slider video download speed slow

We have the Nectar Slider sitting on our Home Page with the opening slide containing an 16MB MP4 (5MB as WebM) Video that's very important to us but consistently takes 10-13 seconds to load and start.  And Google is telling us that we're getting a surprising number of bounces.  We're assuming it's a result of this lengthy load speed, visitors get impatient as the page appears broken, etc.

We've tried W3 Total Cache and have just started using MaxCDN.  Both of which (we think) you approve of.  But having gone through as many of the MaxCDN and your support pages as we can find we're not seeing a noticeable improvement in speed.  And W3 Total Cache messes with our fonts and the little side arrow images on the Nectar slider so we turned it off and it worked as before.  We've since deleted it but still have MaxCDN going.

Unless you can see something that we've missed I'd like to ask about a couple possible workarounds for the slow loading:

    1)  When the page is partially loaded and is waiting for the video to finish its download, is there a way to replace the temporary gray image with very faint diagonal lines with an image that says something to the effect of "standby, loading" or just "loading" or a GIF of some sort such that visitors see that something is still happening and will stick around for the video to finish loading?

    2)  Is there a way to allow the video to begin playing even though it is not fully downloaded?  Basically like buffering for a streaming video on TV.

    3)  We're a video editing company so if there's something we could do with the videos themselves to make downloading faster we can redo it as well.

Anything else you could suggest would be a great help.

Forgot to mention.  Our Salient Theme is up to date.

    Thanks in advance,

    Gary

    Hey Dani,

You will likely have to use a Third Party Slider which has a lazy load feature . Try using Revolution Slider if you have a copy.  Also we have had several users use it so its compatible .

    Thanks

Thanks Tahir, we'll look for it.  Do you have a link to the "Revolution Slider" page?
